Tribal Leaders Train for Disaster Response
By Bob Parrish
Disaster Brochure

On February 18-19, 2008 tribal representatives from ten tribes met in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to begin their preparation to become “trainers-of-trainers” in their tribes for disaster response. See brochure here.  Thanks to the leadership of Principal Chief Ellis of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, a group of eighteen persons met in their tribal facilities to receive initial training from Seventh-day Adventist disaster trainers.

During that time a beginning exposure was given to the role of FEMA and the warehouse management role of Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Each participant will then come to the April 21-25 full certification program and help team-teach a class, as well as receive the remainder of the certification program.

All who are interested in taking this training should contact Bob Parrish at 480-206-8098.  We wish to express of thanks to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and Principal Chief Ellis, and the Emergency Management office of the tribe for hosting both events.
