Church Leader Scottie Deal Starts Radio Broadcast
Scottie has been working diligently to reach his people in Robeson County. As we discussed what we can do to reach out to the residents of Robeson County, it was suggested that a radio program would be a good outreach. As this idea was promoted, a person gave $2000.00 to start the radio program. Brother Scottie was ready and willing. The most popular station in the area was contacted, and they had an open 2 p.m. slot. Six weeks ago the program began.
We were disappointed after three weeks of broadcasting because no one had responded to the program. Then the next week Scottie noticed a unknown person walk into the church service and sit down. After the service she was still sitting in her seat. Scottie though she was a patient of the clinic, but wanted to get acquainted with her. After greeting her he ask how she came to visit the church. Her answer was, “someone on the radio invited me to come to this place.” Scottie just about fell in the floor.

We had been disappointed that no one had written a letter, but God choose to send someone to the church. We really believe that response is a much better one. She has continued to come to church each Sabbath, even though she had planned to move to the other end of the state. What caught her attention? She said to Scottie, “you spoke about the Sabbath and I had never heard those things before, but it made so much sense.” Then she said, “You invited me to come to the church and I had to come.” She told us that she has already moved most of her belongings to the new location, but just can’t stay away from out little church. She said, “I learn so much each time I attend this church.” Will she move?
Then Brother Scottie received a call last Sunday night. The man said, “I heard your radio program on Saturday afternoon.” He continued by saying he heard about the Sabbath, which he had never heard before. He said he wanted to visit the church, but he operated a nursery, and Saturday was his biggest business day. He said he would try to make it. He did not come to church this past Sabbath, but he gave Scottie his phone number, and he will be contacted.
The Lord is using the radio program in a remarkable way. It is our plan to add short radio spots that will highlight God’s distinctive messages. We will work hard to keep the program on the air and pray that the Lord continues to reach people with His Gospel Message.
