Oklahoma Academy Students Host Evangelistic Campaign
Last year in my Speech Class, the students earnestly entreated to be able to do an evangelistic series this year. Knowing how packed our events schedule is, I had my doubts whether the school would allow one more outreach into an already busy schedule. I was wrong, God touched the heart of our principal by the desires of the students and we were given a “Go ahead”.
The next step was where to go. At the beginning of the year we had two separate weekends whose speakers just “happened” to share with me about the need of someone going to Anadarko and holding an evangelistic series as this was an unreached area. I was asked whether or not I thought the school would be willing to go there? Presenting the idea to the Administration as well as the student body the response was strongly affirmative. So now we had a place to go, but how would we be able to fund the evangelistic series? After much prayer and thought, I called ASI to see if they could help us but was told there was very little possibility of getting funding. It was suggested that I try to get ahold of Bob Burnette, who was involved with Native American Ministries. I called and he immediately answered the phone. When I told him what I was inquiring about, he responded with the amazing reply that he had been in prayer all the previous evening asking the Lord for an academy to give an evangelistic series in Oklahoma. We had a precious time of sharing how God was leading after which he gave definate directives as to funding that was available for just such a project..
